Sothapal Timings!
After the registration process we were given the time slots for our Speaking test which was scheduled for me at quarter past four in the evening (1615)..and I am really not very sure why my mind read it as 1635..so after my first session of exams I went to the free park and ride in Madingley road to park my car and took the bus to the citi centre. I dropped my cheque there at HSBC. Took away Mediterranean Vegetable soup and bread at an Italian shop (it was jus £2.45) and I should say the soup was yummy. I was jus roaming arund the shops in the lion yard. Had a cup of freshly squeezed orange juice and my mind was always telling me that I jus had the starters and did not have my main course for the lunch. I was planning to have a Burger at Burger king in the Grafton Centre but on the way to Grafton when I saw SUBWAY I entered there to have a veggie Delite with a chilli sauce and then I had a cream and caramel cake and a strawberry mik shake for dessert in a cafe shop in Grafton. As my mind was saying the my speaking test was at 1635 I thought of being there in the test centre atleats 30 mins earlier so satrted from Grafton to the universtity where my speaking test was to be held.
Now comes the tensed part. I am not sure why I saw the slip given to me (during the registration - schedule for my speaking test) and I panicked seeing the time. It was jus 10 mins and it was to be held at the Helmore building room no. 305. From the main entrance there were stairs to go to the 3rd floor but adding to my bad luck all the doors were closed.Knowing that they are closed I tried foolishly for 3 times and I didnt remember that the examiner during the morning session informed us that the room 305 was on the other side. I asked several ppl. ( about 3 of them) and everybody said the same way. I thought that was all I have to take the exam again..then atlast another dude helped me with all other ways to teh Helmore building. I was really panicking and wa spraying to God that I somehow have to be there. That dude , after trying the other two ways which I had already tried, told me that there is jus one other way that was on the other side. i have to exit the building and go through the other way. Only then I remembered what the examiner told us. So I rushed there literally and I was jus there at 1615 hrs..and the examiner told me "Just in time"..they did not allow me to have a sip of water and told me that "the examiner is waiting for you"..I was made to wait outside the room for the examiner to call..but the examiner jus called me in within 10 seconds.I was breathing deeply and my heart rate would have been some where around 160-170. Thank God, the examiner gave me a couple of minutes to relax and then teh test went on. Sweat was jus flowing around my forehead when I was inside the room.Obviously it was not because of fear but because of running around for the last 10 mins.
I have jus watched in cinemas about this exact on time appearances and now I really felt it. I wont forget this IELTS exam and this is a lesson to me. I should read and register things in my mind carefully especially the timings for the exams.
I should really thank God. I jus prayed when I didnt have another option or no other option came to my mind.
Thanks God for this.

HABIT
Habit 1 : Be PROACTIVE.
We would have heard this word 'PROACTIVE' said byour Managers in IT industry , if not all atleast I have heard my manager say during my appraisal. So what he or anybody means by asking you to be proactive ? Is it like do the work before he asks you to do ? Have a contingency plan for all the tasks so that even if something happens you can try to finish it well before the deadline ? or is it to do something extra than what you are expected to do ? Many of us are unclear of the word 'PROACTIVE'. But what I got from the book is that, understand the work given to you and work had and sincerely to complete the task.I'll perform the task with my full efficiency, concentration and dedication whatever the work may be.
Now I have a question here. How will I do a work which I am totally disinterested in, with full sincereity and dedication ? the answer here is 'All work are equal'. Give your full concentration and dedication to the work in hand you will feel satisfied that you have done the work for your satisfaction. So not just by stopping when we complete our work, we have to go one step further and do what more we can do so that we can feel great for that extra piece of work that we have done without anybody asking us to do.
Also try to learn from whatever we do so that we can try to be more efficient when we do it again. Trying to be effective by some way when we repeat the same job is also proactive as we can devise an efficient method to do that task which we wouldnt have done during teh first time.
Try to grab all the opportunities to learn something new.Learning is a process and that will never end.The ways that can help you to be proactive are :
1. Fully understand the work that you are doing.
2. Dont feel that the task is uninteresting.
3. Dont give up.
4. Learn from mistakes and try not to repeat it.
5. Communicate your ideas and thoughts clearly and coherently.

Unclaimed Leg

Underground Day travel card. Right from childhood I enjoy travelling by train/bus. During childhood days we (my mom,bro and me) used to go to my granny's place by train and my bro used to be very mischievious. I very well remember that one day my mom tooks from one end to the other in the madras Sub urban train. We were really fascinated and we tried to remember all the station names in the correct order and my mom would get us FIVE STAR chocolate for that.
The next regular trip was during my college days. For four full years I travelled by the Madras Suburban trains to reach college. We fought, cracked jokes, ragged, made new friends and what not during our train journey. That was the next stage.
And then comes the train travel from Bangalore to Chennai for around two years atleast once in a month. Many times I travelled with friends and sometime alone. So for the last 24 years I have been travelling by Indian Railways (Madras Suburban/Southern Railways).
I really cherish those memories. Now having been lucky to travel by the London Underground as well I am really excited and would love to grab any opportunity to travel by th Underground. Will try to continue about my train travel experiences and the guys whom I met in my train journey and became friends.

Weekend Galataa!
After taking a bunch of printouts for the route in google maps with exact street location we started at aroung half past one in the afternoon to pick my friend up who has to leave to Hounslow. We took the motorway M11 to London and when we reached the end of the motorway (M11) the map that we had and the round abouts didnt match. We were confused and headed in the wrong direction. We then enquired the route in a petrol bunk, a supermarket to find the correct way. I dorve to central London by taking a wrong route.
Luckily we took my other roomie's map book and we tried to navigate the way using that. Atlast we reached the desired destination at around seven in the evening. We had good Biriyani,Naan,Channa masala and some sweets there, dropped my friend in his new accomodation and then started the way back home. The way back home was pretty easier and straight forward so we did not have any problems.
We reached hoem at around quarter past 10. It was a good experience but I should fully understand teh route before lanning for a long trip.

Different Me!
So as all of us agreed we bought the tickets to watch a movie 'SAW 3'. I bought 2 scoops of Rum n Raisin Icecream thinking that it would be a bit mild and tasty as it is in India.
The movie started with horrible scene of a guy cutting his own shacled leg to escape from being killed by a bomb blast. The opening scene was very horrible.Slowly I started gulping my Rum n Raisin Icecream and felt the 'kick' of the Rum..when I almost completed it I satrted feeling Dizzy, sweating inside and felt nauseated. I was not alright for few mins but the kick then gradually came down. Then watching this movie was the next horrible thing. There was a scene where a doctor was cutting the patient's skull and drilling holes to release the pressure inside. The patient is a crucial murder planner..believe me it was really horrible..wasn't much interested in the story line though. So after about an hour and a quarter we werent able to sit there and we came out and drove back home.

Back Again!
Day before yesterday the U.K Home office have announced a lot of changes in the Immigration rules for both new applicants as well as extension apllicatnts who are already in the U.K. The direct impact is I have to take IELTS by atleast mid of January. I am trying to listen to lot of BBC radio programmes and interact with a lot of Britons so that I can follow their accent without any problem.
I would like to enroll for a yoga or a mediation programme to control my anxiety and lack of patience. I have to control my emotions and also be a bit patient.
I have been working out in the fitness centre for almost a month now. So I start a bit early from home in the morning and go to the fitness centre which just few buildings away from my office.

PUNTING
I am really impressed on the way the English people enjoy their life. This cam river is very beautiful and it was fun to punt. Actually I didn't punt the boatbut I paddled with the oar. I got to talk to a lot of new people and this is my first opportunity to get to know more abt my colleagues. Initially when we started to punt we didnt do it well ,we were going in a zig zag manner and every othe rpunt overtook us. But later, after quite some time we got the tctics and were able to over take others. There were native english ppl (cambridge ppl) who were really experts. Also few of our BIG bosses who have come to cambs for meeting us joined the punting activity. On the whole it was a lot of fun with punting, barbecue and beer and was a good opportunity for me to enjoy as well a get to know people. Will try to post some snap

Change is Constant!
But someimes I a bit lazy too ;) I am trying to prepare for an exam and I am really trying a bit hard to concentrate more and make less errors. But I am not sure if my compentency is English language and grammar is atleast at an average level. When I tried to answer few questions and found myself to be in deep pits w.r.t grammar I felt very bad.
I am searching for ways to improve my language. Instead of reading Fictions I will start reading books that would definitely hep me in achieving my goal.
My next post may be about my new NOKIA 6280 whih I bought a week back.

Entrepreneur
I putforth my views about starting a business is :
1. An urge to start a business and make money. Generally anybody would be interested to make money but when talking about business and managing a company one has to have business acumen and dedication in what he does and also should be aware of the risks.
2. An entrepreneur need not have an indepth technical knowledge or in out knowledge if the product. It is essential to have the idea of
a. how the product is produced/manufactured or made and the processes involved in that
b. how his product is different from his competitor's product
c. his business goals to succeed.
3. It is always not necessary to have an MBA degree to start a business but some basic knowledge on how to manage would help.
4. Later when the business grows he can learn (by doing an MBA or hiring appropriate people) so that things do not go out of control.
5. If the person is really interested in becoming an entrpreneur he would think of every possible opportunity to become one.
Your comment/additions are welcome.

Sillunu oru Kaadhal...
Jus saw the movie after waiting for so long..almost a week after the release...Suriya,Jo and Bhoomika has done a good job.. Suriya and Jo's family scenes looks real.. and they could have put a new child ( with less overacting) instead of the the avitaa masala kid...
I really liked Bhoomika in this movie .. The love and affection between a husband and wife is shown well and I cant understand , when they love each other so much Jo shouldnt have hidden her feelings (abt Aishu) but anyway the way the director has taken is also good and is different.
I think Suriya would have felt this movie as his rehearsal to his marriage and family life.
The sone Munbe vaa is too good and also kummi adi.
I wish I could watch this movie in theatre, being here I am not sure if I would really get a chance.

When you dont have work !!!

Here are the list of things that you can do when you don't have any work in the office /when you are on bench/ when you are on notice period and no work is assigned to you :
1. Read the NEWS in all online news papers and sites and update your knowledge on current affairs.
2. If you are preparing for any exam (unofficial and for career or personal growth) collect all the materials from the net and archive it.
3. Read blogs to feel relaxed and to drive away sleep.
4. Spend some time in the cafeteria chatting with friends.
5. Plan for tthe activity in the evening or the next day.
6. Complete all your personal works that has to be completed. Make a note of them and put a tick mark once they are done.
7. Collect the information about the place where you are planning to spend the next vacation.
8. Login to Gtalk/Yahoo/MSN and keep in touch with old buddies. This would be the right time to do this as you can chat with them when you are busy.
9. Keep thinking creatively on how to spend time effectively.
10. Keep checking with your manager if he/she can assign some work to you so that you need not do all the above.

Virus!!! Backdoor.Coreflood

Yes..my laptop is infected with this virus!...I tried last night to kill them..but they want a strng antibiotic..have pronted out some removal procedures from the symantec site..have to try removing them soon to keep me connected... And also I shouldnt visit those sites that I visted day b4 yesterday which was the cause for this virus..
Perception..
One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.
They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son,"How was the trip?"
"It was great, Dad."
"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.
"Oh yeah," said the son.
"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.
The son answered: "I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and
they have a creek that has no end.We have imported lanterns
in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio
reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields
that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us,
but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
We have walls around our property to protect us, they have
friends to protect them."
The boy's father was speechless.
Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me
how poor we are."
Isn't perception a wonderful thing?
This is a wonderful one and thought how we are just seeing what we dont have and keep wanting things but forget to enjoy what we have...

Lost Moments!
Anyway live every moment in making yourself and others happy..dont forget the past and dont forget to plan for the future while enjoying the present...I remember teh Airtel's logo at this moment 'Live Every Moment'...
The reason why I felt like writing this is the time that I am wasting because of my negligence and laziness...I wish to do a lot of things but the laziness in me overcomes this wish...
I have to prepare a master plan to defeat the laziness and work/do something effectively and efficiently. Sometimes I think of most unimportant things in life and crib for not having that and forget the absence of essential things in life.
I am very much interested in networking and friends and at the same time I feel that I am wasting time just by talking. As my school logo says 'Thamsoma Jyotirgamaya' - ' Lead us from darkness light' - Oh God please show me the right path....

S/w enng. attitude..
I saw vettaiyadu Vilaydu film last night after having downloaded it 3 days before..The movie was a good thriller with some threads (scenes) which was not coherent and for the second time Gautham has made the story in such a way that Jyothika dies in the end ..as same in kakha kakha..also many sequences and characters' names sound similar to K K.
Played Tennis for a while and had kathrikai vetha kuzhambu and seppankazhangu curry for dinner...
I was jus wondering how seppankazhangu is called in English.. if any of u guys know that..pl. lemme know..

I like trying out different types of food ..I tasted the buffets of almost all 5 * hotels in chennai with my family..my mom is very diet conscious rather she'll not feel OK if she eats some vegetables and she's reluctant to taste soem new dishes..her favourites are the traditional Iyar aathu samayal...

cambridge_tamils
I hope thsi would be really useful if we have atleast 10-15 ppl so that we can start with something. Also I have to think well and come up with some innovative ideas to keep the group active as it is not groups of known people.
Let me see how ceative I am in keeping teh group alive atleast for a month...to my bad luck there are no festivals this month..so taht atleast I culd send 'Happy ********' here * just means wild character and not any censored word.
I cooked Bitter gourd ( pavakkai) curry..I will not say it came out very well..it was tasty and I was able to eat it.I was feeling bored to cook rice so managed to heat the frozen parata and ate with pavvakai for dinner...what a weird combination...

Bank Holiday
Made chinna vengayam vetha kozhambhu and venkaikkai curry for lunch. Hap a good sleep again in the evening. Happened to read this in a blog and found it good...I would be forwrding this to al my friends soon.
A butcher watching over his shop is really surprised when he sees a dog coming inside the shop. He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again. So, he goes over to he dog and notices it has a note in its mouth. He takes the note and it reads "Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please? The dog has money in its mouth, as well."The butcher looks inside and, lo and behold, there is a ten dollar note there. So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in the dog's mouth. The butcher is so impressed, and since it's about closing time, he decides to shut the shop and follow the dog.So off he goes. The dog is walking down the street, when it comes to a level crossing; the dog puts down the bag, jumps up and presses the button. Then it waits patiently, bag in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and it walks across the road, with the butcher following him all the way.The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable. The butcher is in awe as the dog stops a bus by pulling its left leg up and gets in it. The butcher follows the dog into the bus. The dog then shows a ticket which is tied to its belt to the bus conductor. The butcher is nearly fainting at this sight, so are the other passengers in the bus. The dog then sits near the driver's seat looking outside. As soon as the stop is in sight, the dog stands and wags its tail to inform the conductor. Then, without waiting for the bus to stop completely, it jumps out of the bus and runs to a house very close to the stop. It opens the big Iron Gate and rushes inside towards the door. As it approaches the wooden door, the dog suddenly changes its mind and heads towards the garden. It goes to the window, and beats its head against it several times, walks back, jumps off, rings the door bell and waits at the door. The butcher watches as a big guy opens the door, and starts abusing the dog, kicking him and punching him, and swearing at him. The butcher surprised with this, runs up, and stops the guy."What in heaven's name are you doing? The dog is a genius. He could be on TV, for the life of me! "To which the guy responds: "You call this clever? This is the second time this week that this stupid dog's forgotten his key."Moral of the story.....You may continue to exceed on lookers expectations but shall always fall short of the boss's expectations. It's a dog's life after all!

Vinayaka Chathurthi!!
Had good lunch at theor home and saw soem movies in Sun TV - Englishkaaran and pokkiriraja.
Actually Rajini's ( not my friend but the superstar) acting in old movies are good and I really adore his style. Not doubt that he is the super star. But his recent roles and get-ups doesntsit him much. I have another day holiday here - a long weekend.
My parents are going to Kasi ( a pilgrimage trip) tomorrow and I am thinking of being awake for teh next two hours so that I could wish them a happy journey in the early morning IST.

I was not lucky enough to do a Masters in the US after my engineering. Even today I feel a bit bad about that. It was that kind of a siuation and nobody except for fate is to be blamed for that. I shouldnt repent because God had given an equal opportunity as my friends' who did their Masters..but one thing I would be missing is the M.S after my name .
But now that I have equal opprtunity, I shouldnt be blaming time or fate and should do my Masters which I was planning for a long time. not an MS but an MBA degree..

Colchester - Zoo
So my friend offered a choice to come and stay in his home that night so that we can start early the next Morning.I reached my friend's place in a place called Cherry Hinton in cambridge at 1115 pm. So we planned to get up at 0530 in the morning and get ready to catch the train at 0815.
Next day:
My friend's wife jus stopped the alarm when it rang and slept asusual forgetting abt the plan. I happened to wake up at 6:30 and also woke them up. We got ready in few mins..and she packed idiyappam for break fast. We took a cab and were happy to reach the station and board teh train which was about to leave. We were lucky in seconds.
We had to change train in Ipswich and take another train to colchester.
We reached colchester station at aroung 0945 and took a taxi to the zoo. The zoo was very big We were given a map and the zones were created besed on the continents. We sa all kind og animals like orangutans, chimanzees, wolves, hunting dogs, sealion,penuins,warthos...etc etc..
I havent seen such a big zoo.
We spent almost 6 hrs and we were lucky to see the sealion feeding and a performance by them. It was just amazing. We had some fries, chips, butter croissants in the zoo.
We left the zoo at around 1630 , ook a cab to the tation and reached cambridge.
This was my first trip in the UK after come here almost a month before.
The zoo was really amazing and it's worth spending the money.

Crocodile Park - Chennai
During the final year of my college days me along with few of my friends used to go for swimming at the WATER PALACE in Thiruvanmiyur. I remebered those good old days and wanted to find teh way to the pool again. Not being able to find it, I jus drove staring to teh ECR road..stopped at the provate beach near Uthandi for few mins and again at Muttukadu for few mins. I was feeling bored to go for boating alone and so I decided to go ahead and was happy to see the board saying 'Crocodile Park 3kms'..being a wild life enthusiast I went there and saw soem different types of Crocodiles. Also one interesting this is that I also saw how the venom is taken from snake which is used as the medicine for Sanke bites.
Saw king cobras and other indian varities of Snakes. I felt it is a very good place for the young children and will kindle their interests for knowledge on the wild life.
The park was not crowded and was able to spend 45 mins there.
Also, they said that the venom from the snake would be taken only once in a week and if they try to take for the second time , it would hurt their tootha nd the snakes would not be able to eat their food[live rats]. These snakes are fed during night times as they do not take their food when people are around. I saw some rats[alive] being packed fro the sankes' dinner.
After the movie sorpion king I saw many scorpions at one stretch there in the crocodile park.

Are Brahmins Dalits today ?
A FC guy though scoring higher marks would no be able to make it to the top govt. institution for his preferred subject because of reservation.
Govt. can provide more scholarship and encourage OBCs by other means without pusing the FCs backaward.

The Da Vinci Code ...
I read teh story before and I was thrilled to watch the movie. Though the movie did not describe the fiction as in the book it was quite interesting. I particularly enjoyed each and every scene refreshing my memory.
Itz a good movie to be watched after reading the book..I would rather say the book is very good.

Travelogue - Munnar
In Short - Started from B'lore on 26/5/2006 by KSRTC
Route - Bangalore - Thrissur- Cochin(Ernkulam)
Kerala SRTC - Cochin - Adimali- Munnar - Deshadhan Hill Resort
Return: 28/5/20006
TNSRTC - Munnar-Maraiyur-Udumalipettai-Coimbatore(ukkadam)
Southern Railways - Coimbatore Junction-Thirupattur-Bangalore.
In Detail :
My cousin sis and bro are spending thier hlidays with thir family. I joined them for their trip to Munnar. So I initially booked the tkts from B'lore to Coimbatore and return not knowing that it is very far from CBE. tehn I cancelled my 'to' tkt and booked it in KSRTC from B'lore to Cochin on 26/5 at 1430 hrs.
Started from office at around 1245hrs, took an auto to the majestic bus stand. Expect the unexpected- the auto broke down near kemp for in airport orad and I took another auto from there to majestic. I had to cancel the earlier booked tkt to coimbatore. The queues in the counters for reservation/cancellation were very big so waited for 5 mins in the counter where the KSRTC person was yet to arrive.
Sometime I behave very impatiently. A foreigner in the KSRTC bus stand counter ueue was standing jus before my turn..I tried move to side near the counter and he said "I AM WAITING IN THE QUEUE". I said "OK" and stood behind him for my turn. And as expected I gave my tickts for cancellation, the officer went to another counter and gave the tkt, which ofcourse was not cancelled and the gave me the refund. The point here is that they would sell the tkt to the same price to another person. Anyway, I got my refund and also was least bothered if they resell the tickets as I didnt have enough time to argue with them.
I boarded the bus at 1420hrs.My seat number was "1" and had enough legroom and it was a semi-sleeper bus.

Long Time No B
One such thing that I wanted to bringup in my blog is PAUL KRUGGMAN's Article in THE HINDU (Courtesy : Newyork Times). Paul point out the the mismanagement in the Bush adminstration and also about the inefficiency of FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) in US. I the article that I read 2 days before he has mentioned that nothing good has happened during the Bush Adminstration except for the TAX cuts. He cites Bill Clinton's efficient management and the contrary Bush Administration.

Singapore - a FINE city
The said Signapore is a fine city and we thought we all knew that. And when they stressed on the word FINE , only the we came to know what they were trying to say. They were talking about the high penalty for any mistake. Even not flushing in toilets would be fined.
The two guys from Singapore were talking about Singapore and Malysia where bribing for an offence will cause double penalty.
I wish such rules are also enforced in India. Shankar, in the film Anniyan has showed this, but our people as usual do not take the message from the film.
My colleagues were talking about the bribing practices in India and I really felt awkward. Though it is the truth, We have so many good values also that could be putforth.
The food in Raaga was good. I had Tomato Soup, A starter and Veg Biryani.
We completed the luch with Gajar ka Halwa ad Rabadi. The desserts were good.

Thiruvannamalai
I was actually not really ready to go to thiruvannamali when my friend called me.But later I decided to go.
We took a TN Govt. bus from Koramangala, St. John's Hospital Bustop at 4.30 PM on 12/17. It was via Hosur- Krishnagiri and we reached TVM at 9.30 PM. I had a short and sweet nap in teh bus for an hour or so which helped me. We started for the Giri valam after visiting the temple. We werent fortunate enough to see the deity as it was already the closing time.So I decided to do the Giri Valam with my sandals on.We started at 10 PM.It was cloudy so we werent able to see the moon. The mountain or the hill would have been more beautiful with the moonliht or the sun light falling on it. We had darshan at the various lingams around. To name a few we saw agni lingam, vayu lingam, varuna lingam, yama lingam, kubera lingam, esanya lingam,etc..
We covered approx. 16 Kms which is the path around the mountain. During the last one km there was a peculiar temple where we have to enter bending our body full and the exit was very small that one will not be able to come out without contracting his body. But I did not know that when I enetered so I bent myself and entered and camout sideways i.e.by lying on one hand.
My friend told me the significance of that later.
After walking around the mountain for nearly 15 kms it was to relax our body muscles. But I broke the total purpose of it. Anyway I'll try that next time.
We completed on full round around the mountain (16 Kms) in ablout 3 Hrs.
Then at 2.20 AM (12/20) we went to the Bus Stop to take a bus back to B'lore. The 3 buses which we saw was very crowded and as sw engrs we did not have patience and took an auto to reach the terminus from where the buses would start, hoping to get a seat from there. We got screwed up as the auto driver took us to a differen bus stop and the buses to b'lore would not stat from that terminus aso we paid Rs.55/- for taking us to the terminus and dropping us in the same place back.
Lesson learnt : Patience is the virtue.
We got a seat in the bus at 3.30 AM and reached b'lore at around 8.30 AM.

Bengaluru Vs Chennai
Last week it was BMW the great German Automobile manufacturers signed an MOU with the TN government for setting up a planing in the Mahindra City and on 12/13 it's VolsWagon whose executives are holding talks with the Government as well as the opposition in the TN.
Many IT companies are also looking southwards from bangalore.Chennai is becoming a hot destination for Foreign investments.
With the strnger textile Industry base in TN (Tiruppur) which exports almos to all developed country and now with IT and Automobile (already chennai boasts of having Hyundai and Ford the two majors) and if this climate sustains...(I mainly stress here about the present Govt.) then TN will surely attain the the NUMERO UNO position which is the dream of our CM.

Bengaluru Habba

Yes..went to Banglaore Habba. Got a free PASS from my friend.
My couin, Mahesh and I reached the Palace grounds on Mekhri circle at around
7.00 PM. It was the last day of the Habba. We werent fortunate enough to listen to the entire veena concert by Kannan Balakrishnan.Anyway atleast we were able to listen to the last 2/3 songs.
After this classical music it was the time for Bollywood music.
Llit Pandit (Jatin-Lalit Fame) sang few of his compositions.Shaan was the next star on the diaz with peppy nos. and the famous 'Tanha Dil'.Yaana Gupta enthralled the audience with her dance for the song "Bapuji zara " which was followed by a fashion show of beautiful banglore/Mumbai models showcasing the latest designs by Pantaloons. It was altogether a memorable evening.
Software Testing conference
It was held in the Taj West End for two days 9th and 10 th of December 2005.
Many people represented their company and it was mainly about the testing processes and the effective testing guide lines.
Did not get much on that because the way the product companies carry out testing is in a unique way and the processes and practices would only be applicable to that product company and tailor made to suit the product's complexity.
Also on the second day, the vendors of different testing tools demonstrated/explained about their products. All these products are suitable for testing an application that is made out of the software available. This does not help anyway for the telecom product companies.
The reason I said for the processes holds good here too. The tools would be specific to their product and each company's (telecom) core product is unique.

Iyengaaru Veetu Azhagae....
this is one of my favourites which I would like to hear anytime...
Something about the picturization of this song..the background with all artificial flowers are ok but it would have been really good if it is with natural flowers or a natural place symbolising heaven...Sada (very pretty and heartthrob..) is very cute but the chreography I feel could have been better in some scenes..the costumes of Vikram and Sada go along with the song...

Koothanur Sarawathi Temple

We (My mom,bro , ganesh and I ) went to this temple on 10/14/2005.
We started from Vaitheeswaran koil at around 12.30 PM and on the way we had our lunch in Mayiladudurai also known as Mayvaram. On the way we visited one of our relative in Peralam. It was really a anubu thollai. He pestered us to stay in his home that night. My bro did not like it and would prefer a hotel. So we kind of convinced him by putting the blame on our astrolger (actually, the astrologer has advised us to visit all these temples).
We started at around 5.15 PM from his home and visited the koothanur Saraswathi temple which is about 15-20 minutes from Peralam.
The temple was good.there were a lot of petty shops which sol pens near the temple. I did not notice the significance then. The priests were preparing for a oorvalam (taking the god aroubd the village during some special occassion). Sarawathi pooja was just 2 days before so the celebrations were still on.
Goddess saraswathi is the Goddess of knowledge. Also they had kep a white board (I did not notice any marker there) fo rthe students to write their name and roll # so that the Goddess blesses them to score high.
It was for my brother the astrologer has advised us to visit this place. The temple was not very big and we just spent some 15-20 minutes there.
Ganesh bought some pens and got it blessed from the Goddess' feet.
I managed to read the 108 namhas which was carved in the temple.

Pooja Holidays...
I left to chennai by Chennai mail with my colleague on Tuesday.
Reached chennai on Wedanesday early in the morning @ 4.40 AM. Took a sub urban train from Chennai Park to St. Thomas Mount where my house is.
Met my school Pal and we had a nice time talking and enjoying the sub urban train journey. Reached home at , I think, 5 30 in the morning. One thing that I envy B'lore is that the State Govt is able to control teh Auto rickshaw rates and force the Auto drivers to stick to the proce shown in teh meter. 'Amma' has to do thi sone in Chennai. I paid Rs.35/- for a trip that is not even 2 kms for which it would jus cost Rs.10 in Bangalore.
Reached home and mom was really very happy for the hand bag that I got her.
There was a display of teh bags and other articles made by the physically challenged for sale in our office. I bought a hand bag made of a shiny cloth with zari).
I also got a Mysore raw silk saree for my mom and an Add on Manhattan Credit card.
She was really very happy. It was her birthday on teh 24th of Sep and I got these gifts after baout 15 days of her birthday.
I went to Uthandi with my uncle, bro and my cousin. My uncle is contructing a house jus near the Sea. I really liked teh place very much but was upset due to my inablity to purchase one.
Then from there we went to Srinar colony near Raj Bhavan to see a site. it was damn costly. A site of about 3000 Sq.ft is costing about 55-60 lacs. The area was good and my bro really liked that area.
Then we drove to our house in Zen ( my uncle's car). I had tasty coconut rice, lemon rice and curd rice wth pappad.
The next day we started at about 3 PM . We had planned to visit Vaitheeswaran koil, Koothanoor Sarawathy temple and thirunallar.
We took out Ford Ikon and I drove from Chennai uptil Thindivanam.
We had a good dharshan in all the temples.
The way back home on Stuarday was really good. We drove in teh ECR road.
I'ld publish a spearte blog on the temples we visited.
Yesterday after happily spending the holidays I had to come back to Bangalore.
I am eagerly waiting the next long holidays for 9 days the week after the next.

I wen to receive them for the Airport on Saturday morning. As my usual jogging I changed my path on Staurday and went to the Airport.
My mom along with my aunt and kids left on a Qualis for a sight seeing trip. I would have joined if too many kids werent there also I had some work in the office which was quite a good excuse to avoid going with them.
My mom would have enjoyed a lot if I would have been with her.Anyway on Monday/Tuesday I'ld take them to teh Ulsoor lake.ISKCON temple.
Had a good Pizza @ the Piza Hut Indira Nagar after a long time.
I have to study a lot and mOnday mornign I am feeling very sleepy and bored to work.

Workign over teh weekend
Hope I have to work over next weekend too to meet the schedule. The schdule includes weekends also because of a deadline. In the software industry one team/set of of people suffer because of other teams' misatkes. Now I can take my case as an example where the Manager has not planned properly right from the initial satges which has now resulted in me working over the weekends.
Anyway I think the software guys deserve this. The work in Software industry (as far as I have seen ) is like spikes..work at peak at one time and no work sometimes. The manager has to be blamed for the high loads of work for his inefficient planning.
It is the team member who finishes it by working over the weekend but the appreciation mail from teh BIG BOSSES goes to the manager for efficiently managin the team and allocating resources.
Ok during the weekdays.. I took off for twodays. I was in chennai from last saturday to this tuesday.Had a great time there. Watched 3 movies..Arinthum Ariyamalum,SARKAR and Anniya again.
I celebrated my B'day this year with my family..my mom especially who wanted me to be in Chennai for my B'day. Last year I didnt celebarte it with her inspite of her pleadings. So this time eevn when I had some work here I went to chennai.
My mom got me a lovely Gold Chain and a ADIDAS Tee-Shirt as my B'dy gift.
Yesterday was my mom's b'day and I forgot to wish her in the morning but then I called her in the evening to wish her.My bro took her to the Residency Towers in Chennai and I missed this occassion by being here in B'lore and that too at work.
I got an e-mail forward from my college friend. It was really good so I am posting it here.
The world is full of sons and daughters like you and me I had a marvellous mother, who loved me,Sacrificed for me and helped me in every way possible. In all of my growing up from childhood throughSchool and eventually marriage, My mother was always at my side. And when I needed help with my little ones, She was there for me. A few years ago, we buried this wonderful woman. Can you imagine how I felt when I returned home and Found poem in her drawer written by my mom?The time is nowIf you are ever going to loveLove me now while I can knowThe sweet and tender feelingsWhich from true affection flowLove me now while I am livingDo not wait until I am goneAnd then have it chiselled in marbleSweet words on ice-cold stoneIf you have tender thoughts of mePlease let me know nowIf you wait until I am sleepingThere will be death between usAnd I will not hear you thenSo if you love me, even a little bitLet me know while I am livingSo that I can treasure itNow she is gone and I am sick with guilt Because I never told her what she meant to me. Worse yet, I did not treat her, as she deserved to be treated.I found time for everyone and everything else But I never made time for her. It would have been easy to drop in for a cup of teaAnd a hug but my friends came first. Would any of them have done for me what my mother did, I know the answer. When I called mom on the phone, I was always in a hurry.I feel ashamed when I think of the times I cut her off. I remember too, the times I could have included her and did not.Our children loved Grandma from the times they were babies. They often turn to her for comfort and advice. She understood them. I realise now that I was too critical, Too short-tempered, too stingy with praise.Grandma gave them unconditional love. The world is filled with sons, daughters and a child like me.I hope they see themselves in this letter and realise from it.If this has touched you, please pass it on to all the sons andDaughters who have to praise their mom for everything they are today.
It was in a poem format..but seems to be a big image file..anyway it is worth reading.
Hope to blog regularly from tomorrow.

Support for Bush continues to Drop....
Becaus eof teh hurrican Katrina now people of teh US of A have started analysing the mistakes done by the Bush government.
I say the ppl. of US are a bit late in doing that. They should have done it before the 2001 Presidential election infact before the 1997 election.Of course they had done it in 1997 where Al Gore was what I would say "won".
Apart from polling and the analysis , I think the media gives a big hype of everything.
Now everybody including Mr.Bush,Mr.Brown (FEMA Chief) are apologising for the mistakes.
Now America is in a dounbful position if it can handle another terrorist attack or a natural calamity..this is what every newspaper says.
US being a superpower had thought all these days that it would be able to handle any kind of adverse situation. But with the lack of coordination things have gone bad duirng Katrina.
And also the media plays an important role. The media should cite out the flaws in the govt. as when it occurs rather than doing a root cause analysis.
I would say even in India theNDTV news channel gives extra importance to small piece of news that would be telecast a 100 time on that day and would be altogether forgotten the very next day and wouldnt even be talked after that.
So I feel and it's rathe true that the media/press is such a powerful mode of communication which can influence many people. So they should always be neutral and report the news to the public as such and without any exaggeration.

ITP Inauguartion in Chennai

TN Chief Minister J.Jayalaithaa would be opening the International Tech park in Chennai.
Many MNCs and other software companies are opening a centre in chennai.
This is a very happy news not only for chennaiities but also for the ppl. of TN.
The works for the desalination plant that is coming up near chennai is to be started within six months and after its completion it would be able to provide 100MLD(Million litres a Day).
So we dont have to beg for cauvery or krishna for our water supply.
As stated by one of teh TN ministers Karnataka sees TN as a drainage and opens the water for TN only when there is a surplus rains or floods in karnataka.
Also now the Karnataka Govt. seems to be irritated by the IT companies asking teh Govt. to improve the city's infrastructure. In a meeting in Bangalore teh deputy CM Mr.Prakash has questioed the IT giants to "ponder what they have done to the govt.?"
But still Bangalore has teh advantage of the whether.Being in a higher altitude Bangalore enjoys this benefit. But other problems seem to be increasing day by day which makes us to forget this advantage and think about the night mares of traffic, poor raods, the rents going northward and also the real estate prices.
Iqbal Movie Review...
Written and Directed by : Nagesh Kukoonur
The forum mall was busy with guyz and gals yapping off..
The movie started with the scenes of old village in Northern part of India.
With all the village people watching a India-Pak cricket match in a TV that was placed on tree, the director hinted that this film is something about cricket or about cricket fans ..cricket which is considered the only sport in India by many people.
Of course now with Sania moving ahead in WTA rankings ppl. seem to watch tennis and also F1.
Coming back to the review, the hero Iqbal is deaf and Dumb and aspires to join the cricket team as a fast bowler.
He tends cattle grazes it near a pond/lake and practices his bowling.
He also names his cattle with the famous Indian fast bowlers' names.
He interprets the words with the lip movement,if talked slowly, or by actions.
Iqbal's sister, who is about 12-13 years old has performed her role very well in the movie in showing emotions.
Iqbal spends the evening with the cattle near cricket coaching class conducted by Girish Karnad.
He waits for his sister to return from school to show him by action of how Girish coaches his students.
With his sisters effort Iqbal manages to get coaching from Girish until one day when a fellow student teases him.Iqbal while bowling for him, does it with full pace aiming at his forehead.
And as in any other story the hero Iqbal is thrown out of the coaching school.
Then he approaches an old student of Girish - Naseeruddin..the story then is weaved about how Iqbal gets coaching from him and joins the cricket team.
Initially Iqbal's father oppposes him and is not interested in his son playing cricket.
As his father is the sole bread winner of the family he forces Iqbal to help him in farming.
This movie shows the determination of Iqbal, the emotions between Mother-Iqbal and his sister and the hardwork that helped Iqbal realise his dreams.
Apart form the lot of emotions and the background scores by Sukhwinder the story is very simple.
The direction is good and could be watched once.

Party Time...

Shivana Samudar falls. ~90 kms from Banglore.
Picture was taken using MOTOROLA E398 mobile phone.
Been to this place last month with my ex-colleague(college senior) and his friends.
The work culture and peer-peer relationship is one of the most important factor in a software industry. The employees should not take too much of an advantage of the flexibility given to them.As a professional they are expected to know the limits of their freedom.
I have mentioned all these becos...I went to a party hosted by my previous organisation celebrating their listing in NSE adn BSE.
Though I went in late, missed many programs, I enjoyed meeting my old pals and talking to them. Some of my friends also envied me of my ability to make good friends very easily wherever I go. One main thing that I want to stress here is that, if I move with some people and if their qualities impress me or mainly do not make me think twice before I talk the I soon feel them as my good friend and will also not forget to keep in touch with them regularly.
I think many guys dont keep in touch with their school/college mates and dont even know their whereabouts. But if I have moved closely with ppl. I would definitely be in regular contact.
Ok now about the party..hmm I missed the LASER show..had dinner there and went to my friend's place in koramangala.
Also I had bought some shares of my previous company during the IPO and had even sold them within few hours of the listing. The percentage increase in the price of each share is about 89-90%.Planning to watch "Iqbal" movie on Sunday- a desi english film.
Will post a review of that film after i watch it.

Cook!!
We decided to appoint a cook for us to prepare food in morning and evening.
The services of a cook are very expensive in bangalore. Occassionally me and my roomie would venture in preparing our dinner.
Yesterday I prepared Dhal with onion and tomato and snake gaurd subji.
I came out well.
When I was in Hyderabad last weekend I bought some sweets for home and gave to my roomie's bro who reached chennai yesterday. It is a special paper sweet call "PUTHAREKU" (telegu name,I suppose) - PAPER Sweet.
The outer layers of the sweet are like butter paper and inbetween those layers are the powdered sugar with ghee. My mom and my aunt at home thought it was paper and peeled it to find the sweet.
